Earth Companion

A journey to a more sustainable life

Here at Earth Companion we are creating a global community of likeminded individuals.

These are people who are looking to make conscious choices that will help care for the planet we share and make it safer and cleaner for our future generations and the natural world.

We understand, in this fast-paced world, how difficult it can be to begin to make even small changes to our lifestyles.

So, we are offering you an online programme that will take you on a voyage of discovery through your current lifestyle choices and how they impact the world around us.

Let's take a journey together. We want to create a space to grow and learn as a community.

Your journey will take you through some of the key areas of your lives, where your decisions and actions can have a positive influence towards restoring the planet’s natural systems upon which we are so dependent.

Let's Celebrate

Celebrations & Events

Special celebrations and events are lovely – but they too can carry a significant environmental cost. Fortunately, if we are mindful, there’s a multitude of ways we can still enjoy sharing special time with friends and loved ones – and all without such a harsh impact on the environment.

Plastic in the Environment

Plastic is polluting oceans, impacting biodiversity, and affecting human health. However, it is important that in the rush to become plastic-free, we do not suddenly turn to unsustainable or damaging alternatives. And consider going single-use plastic free.

Travel & Transport

Modern society enjoys unprecedented travel options, but fossil fuel-based transport is one of the major cause of emissions to the atmosphere. Making informed travel choices, along with trying to offset carbon emissions from our travel, is therefore a major means of reducing our footprint.

Energy & Power

The science is clear – our reliance on fossil fuels as the source of our power is the cause of climate change and rising global temperatures, while greener renewable technologies are becoming more attractive.

Water is our most precious resource. And water – in all its forms; oceans and rivers, rain, snow, ice, floods and droughts will all be at the forefront of the battle against climate change. As a first casualty it has the potential for catastrophic implications for ours and all other species on earth.

Finance & Investments

Increasingly, fossil fuel investments are being seen as a risk for both investors and the planet, consequently there is increasing pressure on investment banks and pension funds to divest from this sector.
Sustainable Fashion

Fashion & Textiles

The fashion industry is the second largest polluter on the planet. For instance, cotton is one of the thirstiest crops in the world taking around 2,720 litres of water to produce just one t-shirt – the same amount as the average person would drink in three years.

Pharmaceuticals & Personal Care Products

PPCPs include substances used by individuals for personal health or cosmetic reasons and the products used by agribusiness to boost growth or health of livestock. More than 20 million tonnes of PPCPs are produced every year and have been detected in water bodies throughout the world. They pose a risk of toxicity, persistence and bioaccumulation in the natural environment.

Careers & Workplace

Many office supplies such as pens, laptop batteries, smartphones can and should be recycled. But some companies are going way beyond this in their mission to reduce their carbon footprint.

Human agriculture – food production – The food industry is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and is also responsible for massive global deforestation and consequent destruction of habitat belonging to some of the world’s most threatened wildlife.

Waste & Recycling

Food waste is a massive issue. In the UK alone, it is responsible for millions of pounds in financial cost as well as 14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions. On a global scale, one third of all food that is grown goes to waste.

Home & Garden

We all spend a large proportion of our time in our homes, but how conscious are we about the material things we surround ourselves with? And more especially, do we know what the true impact is of all of the chemicals that we use in the house and garden – they all end up out there in the natural environment somewhere!
